Playing in the Cabinet

When you were growing up did you have a favorite cabinet that you loved to play in? For my brother and me it was my mom's china cabinet. She left the bottom portion empty so that we could crawl in and out of it. Who knows why we found it so interesting. Were we pretending it was a house or maybe it was our pirate ship? We would spend hours pretending and it gave my mother an opportunity to cook dinner without us directly underfoot.

Earlier this week, my own kids brought those memories flooding back. I had Tom put kid locks on all our our lower cabinets except for the Tupperware cabinet (Do you have one of those??? Does it stay neat? I can never find the right top or bottom!) Maybe if I didn't let Abbie Grace play in it every night, I might be able to find those pesky tops!!! Normally Lucius and Maggie will be playing in their rooms or watching the Backyardigans. This night, however, they decided to come help Abbie Grace play in my Tupperware cabinet.

They proceeded to empty out ALL of the containers.......

And show her how it is really done.....

Maggie really like to get up on the shelf in the cabinet. She said it was her top bed.

And don't worry...only a couple of fingers got squished in the process.

I wish that I could find one of the pictures of Brandon and me playing in the cabinet. If I can find one, I'll scan it and re-post. Hope that you all have a great weekend. Check out some more favorite things over at the Hilary's blog: The Other Mama.

I totally and completely remember doing this as a child and we have several pics. I'll have to find one, too, since I'm at my moms! It was THE most fun! And I'm so glad to see that old fashioned playing is not going out of style!!

I don't remember doing this as a child, I'll have to ask my mom! My son used to pull everything out of my one cabinet when he was smaller. It was fun for him and kept him busy.
