Lucius Turns Four

Lucius had his birthday party back on August 15th. I cannot believe that he is already four years old!!! Although he is getting bigger everyday, he is still my little baby!!! But don't let him hear me say that....he DOES not like being called a baby.

Since I am SUCH a planner these days, I started out on the Monday before his party getting things together. I bought some invites for the kids at kindergarten....(hoping that at least a couple of them could make it last minute).....and ordered a cake. Then I called several of the family members and invited them.

We had a great turn out. There were about ten of the kids in his class that were able to attend the party. We held it at one of the local parks and the kids had a great time. The weather was a little overcast and the breeze was great under the pavilion. And the best thing is that Lucius will never know that I almost 'forgot' to plan him a birthday party. (unless he learns to read anytime soon.) Next year I will have to start planning a little sooner.....

Finally we headed to the pool to cool off: (I only had to jump in the pool twice to 'rescue Lucius. He decided that he thought he knew how to swim....and really he doesn't.....sunk like a brick!)

Very full weekend. Now I'm ready for a break this week. :-)

Vacation Week :: Better late than never.

***This has been sitting in my edit folder about two weeks now, but I still wanted to share with you.***


Our vacation this year was a trip to our lake house at Compass Lake. Beside the five of us, my mom, dad, and youngest brother were also there with us. The kids loved playing in the water. My favorite part of spending time at the lake is either sitting on the swing watching the sun set, or playing a game of canasta.



At the first of the week, both kids were a little timid in the water. My dad, Tom and I all worked with both kids to make them more comfortable. Neither have had swimming lessons, so we kept life jackets on them most of the time. By the end of the week, Lucius would put his life jacket on and would run and jump off the dock in water over his head! Maggie would jump too, but only to her Mommy, Daddy, or Pops!

Abbie Grace spent most of her time inside with Nana, but there were a couple of times that we had her out on the porch while Tom was working.



By dinner time, the kids would be so worn out! That's the great thing about being in the water all day...Lucius and Maggie were in bed early every night! A couple of times, Maggie didn't even make it to bed before she was asleep!!!



Lucius asks just about every other day when will we be going back. I feel the same way. I do wish that we were able to go at a moments notice, but life is just so busy! We do have a couple of weekends planned in July though and I am counting the days...along with Lucius.
